In addition to furniture and walls, we also like to see colours and patterns on bedspreads, tablecloths, cushions, towels, wallpaper and similar details that are very important to us in decorating our home. However, curtains, functional and interesting fabrics, with which one can play endlessly, give the final touch to a decoration and are a real refreshment in any space.
Given that you can´t go wrong with the choice of material for curtains, whether they are transparent and airy, thick and light, or heavy and rich, there are still a few tricks to adjust them as best as possible to the space where we install them.
If we equip a small space with curtains, it is a good idea to choose transparent curtains (sheers) in light or bright colours that will bring natural light into the room, while large rooms can handle everything and allow playing even with several types of fabric. In large spaces, we often see double curtains transparent in the middle and heavier and thicker on the side.
As for the patterns on curtains, they are more than welcome. If you match them with patterns that are already on the carpets, cushions and other decorative elements in the room, adding a curtain of the same or similar pattern is a real deal. However, if you still prefer to play it safe, you can choose single-coloured curtains, or those with a barely visible pattern in a colour that will blend in with some of the details in the room.
Spaces with simple, dull or completely bright colours, without additional patterns on decorations in the room, leave you with the most freedom of decor and the colour on curtains. Stripes, dots, floral pattern in fresh colours, whatever you choose you´ll soon be convinced, that in such spaces everything is allowed, and even desirable.
However, despite the increasing number of different fabrics, patterns and colours, white light curtain still holds the “queen“ title. Just like the little black dress this eternal classic still rules our homes and regardless of the space in which it is installed, it will always be that touch of elegance that we feel completes our favourite space.
